Over the past few years, medical marijuana conventions have become more and more common as this industry slowly but steadily grows, and as more states move to decriminalize marijuana for medicinal usage. Perhaps the leader of these conventions is Hempcon – a convention that originated in California – the most proactive state in the union for medicinal cannabis laws and treatment options. The convention is named after the popular Comicon, which is a comic book convention that sees over a million spectators annually.
It’s not uncommon for well known musical artists and other celebrities to grace the main stage at Hempcon and provide a message of healing to attendees. Ziggy Marley – Bob Marley’s son – performed at several Hempcon events in California last year, and other, to be announced, artists are slated to put on performances this year.
Arizona’s medical marijuana laws, under voter passed Proposition 215, took effect in mid-April of 2011. In celebration of that, Hempcon has officially announced that they will be making their premier in Arizona on November 18th – 20th at the Arizona State Fairgrounds.
