San Diego County Forced by California to Uphold State Medical Marijuana Laws

Patients who have been prescribed medical marijuana in California are celebrating a significant legal victory after the courts sided with them on their right to use and possess medical marijuana.

The court case is County of San Diego v. San Diego NORML, et al, and the victory serves to protect patients residing in San Diego County and in San Bernardino County, as well as setting legal precedence for California medical marijuana laws.

Both of the counties had previously refused to acknowledge standing medical marijuana laws in California, citing that federal law prohibits the usage of marijuana for any purposes and still defines it as an illicit substance that is federally banned.
